What is this course about?

CSU's Postgraduate Certificate in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Leadership and Managementhas been designed for practicing and aspiring paramedic service managers who seek formal qualifications to complement their paramedic experience.

The course provides an international perspective and focuses on paramedic systems, leadership, professional identity and evidence-based management. It seeks to provide graduates with a fundamental understanding of major aspects of the leadership and management as it applies to the delivery of pre-hospital medical care. The course aims to develop managerial competencies by equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate effective and efficient practice at personal, professional and organisational levels.

It examines the nature of management roles and the evolution of management thought from behavioural, political and symbolic dimensions.

The course articulates into the Master of Health Services Management and the Master of Health Science.

The course aims to:

  • analyse the context of paramedic  services within the health and emergency management systems
