About Learning Management

The Master of Learning Management program has been designed with the busy professional in mind.  Learning management is about preparing for the knowledge economy of the 21st century and developing skills and understanding of the issues that influence education in the global marketplace and the local environment.  Graduates are workplace ready and futures oriented.  The program is delivered in Distance Education mode with a choice in areas of specialisations.  This flexibility provides the opportunity to develop and enhance skills and knowledge in a nominated area of specialisation or in a general area of interest.

Students who focus their studies in a recognised area approved by CQUniversity can have this specialisation on their testamur.

As the knowledge economy grows, so too does the demand for Learning Managers prepared for the 21st century.  If you are looking to update teaching and learning skills; advance your career in the education sector or add new skills in a Learning Management portfolio, then the Master of Leraning Management program is for you.  Students can tailor their program to meet their career goals by way of a specialisation in the areas of executive leadership, special education, early childhood, educational multimedia, simulation technology and learning, middle schooling, professional education or teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL).

Teachers who are seeking four year status are eligible to complete this program of study to attain this recongnition.

Practicum/Work placement

Students studying the Early Childhood specialisation will undertake practicums in all three Professional Project courses.

Students studying the TEFL specialisation will be required to implement a lesson with second language learners as part of the course assessment.

Program Aims

The aim of this program is to graduate 'Learning Managers' who have an enhanced capacity to manage the learning of students and will be able to work collaboratively with other teaching professionals, a range of other supporting professionals and the community.  Learning Managers are professionals who are workplace ready and futures oriented and able to engage with a range of issues that influence education outcomes for students and adult learners.

Program Structure

To graduate with a Master of Learning Management (Specialisation) students must complete five compulsory coursework courses and two research courses in their area of specialisation plus two postgraduate education electives.

All students (excluding those studying the Simulation Technology and Learning specialisation) complete the same core coursework and research courses however the content of the courses will differ dependent on the specialisation chosen.

Simulation Technology and Learning Specialisation

Graduates of the Master of Learning Management (Simulation Technology and Learning) will demonstrate a clear focus on using simulation technology to design programs and activities for specific learning outcomes.  Graduates will be able to work closely with simulation developers to create simulation for specific learning purposes.
