Program Aims

The aim of the Masters of Health Promotion is to prepare professionals working in health promotion industry and services with advanced skills and knowledge in health promotion. On completion of the program, students should be able to:

1. Analyse the social, emotional, physical, political, economic and historical determinants of health and recommend an appropriate means of gathering information for a community needs assessment;

2. Utilise theoretical knowledge from specialised disciplines in the application and evaluation of effective health promotion programs;

3. Demonstrate effective project management, including knowledge and skills in building partnerships, collaboration, leadership and teamwork;

4. Evaluate various sources of evidence used by health promotion practitioners, including the ethical considerations associated with evidence and health promotion projects;

5. Undertake a research project that significantly contributes to the knowledge or practice of the health promotion profession that has the potential to be submitted to a peer reviewed source.
