The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education is a 6 month full-time award program that aims to develop professional tertiary educators enriched by cross-institutional community of practice.
Successful graduates of the program can expect to increase their understanding of the theories and practices of tertiary teaching, through a deeper understanding of how students learn. They will also develop a community of practice, not only amongst fellow candidates at their own institution, but also with others from the partner universities as they participate in elective units from those organisations.
The program's teaching and learning methodology is a balance between theory and practice, enabling staff to develop skills which will not only assist them with their teaching, but also contribute to their own personal development as an academic.

The focus for this program will be on the development of knowledge, skills, and reflective practice appropriate for the teaching and learning professional at the tertiary level.
The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education has been initially designed by a consortium of five universities of which CQUniversity is one of the lead institutions. The GCTE consists of four courses to the value of six units of credit each. The program consists of one core course plus one elective course at your home institutions, CQUniversity. The core course is called Tertiary Teaching and Learning while the other course (also an elective to the other universities in the consortium) is Educational Technology. In order to be awarded the GCTE from CQUniversity, students must undertake the two courses offered from your home institution and two courses from partner universities. After completing the home institution courses, two further electives from other universities in the consortium will become available. This program is offered only part-time and online. Some of the courses require linking study to professional practice, it is therefore essential that intending students are currently or recently active in teaching - if you are unsure of how this may affect you please contact the university prior to enrolment.
