CQ29 - Bachelor of Construction Management

About Construction Management

Learn the finer points of the construction industry through the Bachelor of Construction Management. Students are introduced to the concepts of planning, organising, co-ordinating and controlling building developments. The construction process, the principles and practices involved, and new technology used within the industry is covered in the program.  Building economics, construction management, and industry construction regulations are also studied.

CQU’s built environment field of study is designed with students’ needs in mind.  Offered exclusively by distance education mode, programs are completed part-time while you are working or seeking employment in the industry.  Exemptions have been established from programs due to previous study, TAFE qualifications or professional experience.

Career Opportunities

Career options are diverse for graduates of the Bachelor of Construction Management.  You can specialise in construction and project management, property development or land economics.  Additional options include project estimator, site manager, building consultant, building development manager or contracts administrator. There is the choice of self-employment or working for building contractors, developers, project managers, and also Local, State or Federal government authorities.

Program Aims

This program provides training in all aspects of construction management and produces graduates capable of managing and controlling complex construction projects.

Prospective students are encouraged to talk to the Program Coordinator about exemptions from the program based on previous study or professional experience. The Faculty has established sets of exemptions for holders of selected TAFE qualifications. Students should actively seek employment in the building industry.

Students should note prerequisite requirements and course availability (in this Handbook) when constructing their program. Courses are offered once annually. It is suggested that courses be studied as shown in the Recommended Study Schedule. The loading may be varied to balance work and family commitments. If assistance is required, contact the Program Coordinator.
