CU63 - Associate Degree of Building Design

About Building Design

If you like the idea of producing intricate designs of buildings using software, or developing an architect's drawing into something more detailed, then building design could be for you!

Create a detailed plan from an architect's sketch, calculate completion dates and estimate materials and labour needed for your design. Study current regulations and geotechnical requirements of the building and construction industry.

CQU’s built environment field of study is designed with students’ needs in mind.  Offered exclusively by distance education mode, programs are completed part-time while you are working or seeking employment in the industry.  Exemptions have been established from programs due to previous study, TAFE qualifications or professional experience.

Study Mode

Online Education, Distance Learning & External study modes available

Career Opportunities

Graduates are prepared for a variety of careers in the building design and construction industry as a building designer, a building interior designer or an architectural drafter. Many graduates are self-employed consultants in the home building industry while others work for architects, engineers, home designers, developers, contractors or construction specialty companies.

Successful completion of this award satisfies the educational requirements for the Building Design - Low Rise and Building Design - Medium Rise licences issued by the Building Services Authority, Queensland.
